Everyone who knows me knows that my style is edgy, unique to me, and ever evolving, hence why I tend to buy the practical pieces that are on trend and stay away from classics and even wearing black. Perhaps the brand lost synonymous with the classic style of dressing is Chanel, which may be the reason I own very few pieces from the brand. In fact I only own two Chanel bags. But every once in awhile a Chanel piece captures my attention and I fall head over heels in love.
When Chanel released the Boy bag almost ten years ago, few thought it would still be around a decade later. The Boy has all the characteristics of a trendy bag, it was edgy and modern and was seen in every Chanel advertisement and on the shoulder of every brand ambassador and supermodel. But somehow, the boy has become stood the rest of time, becoming somewhat of a classic. That is the kind of classic bag I can get behind.
Fast forward to 2019 and Chanel released its newest must have style, The 19 bag is the perfect bag for everyday. Far more casual than both the Classic Flap and Boy bags. Available in lambskin, calfskin and tweed, the 19 bag features both a shoulder strap that can be worn cross body and a short chain handle enabling the bag to be carried by hand, something both the Classic Flap and Boy bag lack. The 19 is also a far less structured shape compared to its counterparts, it is almost reminiscent of a messenger bag. Available in 3 sizes as well as in a wallet on chain style, the 19 captured my heart immediately and I knew that one would end up in my wardrobe. But it wasn’t until I laid my eyes upon a houndstooth tweed version ofthe bag that I hit the bullet. The casual shape is juxtaposed by the elegance of the tweed and the combination is pure perfect! In fact, I just purchased a matching jacket!
