Top Trends for Resort 2022

It’s finally summer! Sun, sand, and beach days are upon which means, so is resort season! Top designers from every fashion capital are taking to far corners of the globe to show their latest transitional and summer travel centric fashions.

A clashing combination: Red and Pink is the color combination of the season. The daring and clashing combination can be seen in everything from printed cocktail dresses from Markarian to floral prints from Carolina Herrera and outerwear and evening pieces from Roberto Cavalli and Versace. A personal favorite execution of the combination is coupling the combination with white accessories and subtle gold jewelry for a bold and playful approach.

Magenta Madness: The solid color of the season goes to Magenta. A shade often overlooked and underutilized. Markarian showed a magenta silk off-the-shoulder gown perfect for those wanting and unexpectedly bold evening option while Veronica Beard brought the color to daytime office wear by means of high-waisted wide-leg trouser. I’ll be adding a few magenta pieces into rotation for the upcoming seasons.

Blackout: Black is not a color often associated with summer or resort wear but this season it seemed to be on the mind of many of our favorite designers. Chanel’s resort show in Monaco closed with back-to-back black dresses while Alexander McQueen showed an asymmetrical black suiting inspired mini dress followed by a leather mini trimmed in lace.

Sensational Suiting: Workwear isn’t often what comes to mind when resort wear is mentioned. This season designers seemed keen to bring summer and resort into the office by means of suiting. Versace paired bright floral slip dressed with black pinstripe oversized blazers, Veronica Beard brought geometrical prints to full suits and Roberto Cavalli showed suiting looks in black lace.

Resort season is far from over with Dior’s show in Spain still on the calendar. But so far this has been the strongest resort season in recent years. My dilemma now is which trend to embrace first!
